What is Scott’s main concern at the very end?
The most important thing for Scott in the end, was for him and his men to die a natural death in their struggle to make it home. He wanted to be known as a brave and honorable man, who did all the right things on the mission but where unable to survive because of the terrible weather. Both Scott and his team (also the ones who died before the journal ended) wanted to show Britain that they were fighters - and that they didn't quit, even though their legs and arms were frostbitten and they were running out of fuel.
